Search & Rescue Operation at Holy Amarnath Cave:
On 09 July 2022 at 1730hrs a cloud burst was reported near Amarnath cave where many tents along with devotees were washed away and many were found missing. A rescue team consisting of 10 Instructor and 40 trainees of Basic Mountaineering Course – 141 (all volunteers) under the guidance of Principal left Sonamarg training camp for search and rescue mission in late night. During the two days of search and rescue mission in which many agencies where involved including NDRF, SDRF, Army, CAPFs and other local agencies from the J & K (UT) Government , initially the Pilgrims were immediately evacuated to safer places while the injured pilgrims were evacuated to nearest medical facilities. During this rescue mission 15 bodies were recovered from the debris of flash flood.
